Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity

2022-3

I was one of 4 artists commissioned for this 12-month residency (May 2022 – June 2023 University of York) working with Chantal Berry whose PhD focuses upon acoustic ecology, or the sounds and rhythms of human-nature relationships between c.1500-c.1800.

Working with Blind and visually impaired participants from MySight York, the sound piece aims to evoke the city during the Medieval period, whilst exploring the concept of Cathedral as Forest and Forest as Cathedral.

A Braille Bestiary – an encyclopaedia of animals real and imagined, including four of my own mythical creatures, has also been produced. Both these artworks will be installed and then accepted into the Borthwick Archives in early 2024.
